Job summary

Lewiston Public Schools seeks an elementary teacher to create a flexible program and foster a positive learning environment for student growth. You will establish rapport with students and parents while supporting foundational education.

The role requires planning, regular parent communication, behavior management, and collaboration with district staff to tailor instruction for individual needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and valid teaching certificate required.
• Ability to develop and implement instructional plans for diverse learners.
• Strong communication with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Communicates regularly with parents by newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Identifies student needs and develops strategies for IEPs with district specialists as appropriate.
• Plans and coordinates the work of ed. techs and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
• Assesses and evaluates the accomplishments of students' academic and social growth and keeps progress reports as requested.
