Job summary

Monroe Public Schools seeks a maternity long-term substitute elementary classroom teacher for Grade 5 at Monroe Elementary School. The role requires CT State Certification and experience with elementary instruction, assessment, and parent communication.

The teacher will implement district curriculum, maintain records, and collaborate with staff to support student growth in academic and interpersonal skills. This is a temporary, on-site position with standard duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Certification/License: CT State Certification as an Elementary Teacher
• CT State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline
• Masters degree preferred
• Successful prior teaching experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum aligned with district goals
• Promotes a safe, inclusive classroom and small group instruction
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for effective learning
• Assesses student learning and adapts instruction to diverse needs
• Maintains accurate records of student progress and attendance
• Communicates with parents and involves families in education
• Coordinates with grade-level staff and participates in meetings
• Selects instructional resources and maintains inventory
• Administers standardized tests as required
