Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Must have or be eligible for a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Instruct assigned classes regularly at designated locations and times.
• Create a classroom environment that promotes student involvement and achievement.
• Provide an instructional program to meet all students' needs.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Establish objectives consistent with student needs and curriculum framework.
• Utilize instructional methods and resources to help each student achieve objectives.
• Take safety precautions to protect students and property.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Help implement school policies and foster appropriate student conduct.
• Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours when needed.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
• Plan and supervise teacher assistants and volunteers.
• Evaluate personal effectiveness and pursue professional development.
