Job summary

TETON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 is seeking an Elementary School Long Term Substitute for Grade 2 at Jefferson Avenue Elementary School. The position begins January 18, 2027 and runs as a long-term substitute for the classroom teacher.

Required is New York State Education Department certification to teach Grades K-2 or 1-6. The role involves implementing curriculum, documenting progress, and collaborating with staff to support student growth in a safe, engaged learning environment.

Qualifications

• NYS Education Department certification to teach Grades K-2 or 1-6.
• Successful prior teaching experience in an elementary setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the substitute for an elementary teacher.
• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day.
