Job summary

Fairport Central School District is seeking a Long Term Substitute for Grade 2 at Jefferson Avenue Elementary School, starting approximately January 18, 2027. The teacher will implement curriculum, monitor student progress, and maintain a safe learning environment.

The role requires NYS certification for Grades K-2 or 1-6 and prior elementary teaching experience is preferred. Collaboration with staff and active parental communication are essential components of this position.

Qualifications

• Must hold New York State Education Department certification to teach Grades K-2 or 1-6.
• Experience in elementary settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer elementary curriculum and lesson plans.

Job description

This is a Long Term Substitute Position beginning approximately January 18, 2027

BUILDING : JEFFERSON AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

GRADE LEVEL : GRADE 2

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the building administrators, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Functions

• Serves as the substitute for an elementary teacher.
• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
