Job summary

East Hartford Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher for Grade One at Norris Elementary School. This temporary assignment runs from approximately January 7, 2027 through March 31, 2027, with a daily rate between $150 and $250 based on experience.

The ideal candidate is certified in the subject area, holds a Bachelor's degree, and has prior student teaching, substitute teaching, or private school teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Certified in subject area (teaching credential)
• Bachelor's degree required
• Student teaching, substitute teaching, or teaching in private school experience
• Alternatives to above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and materials aligned with facility and student needs.
• Maintains records as required by policy and regulation.
• Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Makes provision for availability to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
