Corewell Health’s Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks a full‑time RN for the 2 South Orthopedic/Progressive unit. You will provide nursing care for medical and select surgical patients, following ANA guidelines and the nursing process, and you will work nights 7:00 PM–7:30 AM with a 36‑hour weekly schedule.

The department emphasizes teamwork, leadership continuity, and high‑quality patient experience.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required; BLS/CPR certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care following ANA standards and the nursing process.
• Uphold ethical, culturally congruent practice and effective communication.

2 South is a 41-bed Orthopedic/Progressive unit at Butterworth Hospital. 2 South cares for medical patients as well as some surgical patients. As a team member on 2 South, you will see a wide variety of patients. Some of those diagnoses include Orthopedic Trauma, Ortho Oncology, Hip & Spine Fractures, Spine Surgery, where the other population is Progressive Care and Med/Surg overflow. These diagnoses can be anything from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Pneumonia, Sepsis, Congestive Heart Failure, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Drips, Bi pap as well as Post Op heart ablation and pacemaker replacement patients. Teamwork is what keeps 2 South thriving. They rely on each other to get through shifts and keep their staff united. With over 20 years of the same leadership, the culture on the unit is a wonderful place to learn and help develop you into a well-rounded caregiver.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
