Job summary

Mother’s Market in Irvine is seeking a Grab 'N' Go Prep team member to assist the kitchen with fresh meals, produce prep, and quality standards. You’ll help produce soups, salads, and quick service items, ensuring consistency and safety in a busy store setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial food prep or food service.
• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques for hot and cold foods.
• Familiarity with food safety standards and health codes.
• Experience using commercial kitchen equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh meals according to established recipes and daily prep lists.
• Chop vegetables, fruits, and assemble cold entrees and side dishes.
• Prepare soups, cornbread, and biscuits; refill as needed throughout the day.
• Store and rotate leftover food properly to prevent spoilage.
• Test food temperatures and follow food safety standards.
• Stock cold line with prepped vegetables and replenish items as needed.
• Cover breaks for kitchen cooks when available.
• Communicate product shortages and equipment issues to the manager.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with health department regulations.
• Follow all safety and sanitation protocols.
• Provide excellent customer service as needed.
• Attend scheduled team meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

As a Grab 'N' Go Prep, you’ll support our food service team by preparing fresh meals, chopping produce, and ensuring quality standards are upheld. From soups to salads, your work helps create convenient, wholesome options for our customers.

Hourly Pay: $16.90 – $22.00

What You’ll Do

• Prepare fresh meals according to established recipes and daily prep lists
• Chop vegetables, fruits, and assemble cold entrees and side dishes

What You Bring

Experience & Skills

• Experience in commercial food prep or food service preferred
• Understanding of basic cooking techniques for hot and cold food
• Familiarity with food safety standards and health codes
• Experience using commercial kitchen equipment is a plus

• Able to read, understand, and follow recipes in English
• Verbal proficiency in English and basic written communication
• Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and accuracy
• Basic math skills for food measurements and calculations

Physical Requirements

• Stand for long periods (up to 8 hours)
• Push, lift, and carry equipment or food items (up to 50 lbs.) up to 100 times daily
• Use carts and dollies to move product between coolers and workstations
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead for items
• Work in both hot and cold environments, including outdoors as needed
• Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen setting
• Follow all health code and sanitation regulations

Schedule Requirements

• Must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
