Job summary

Sunstall Inc. in Whitmire, SC is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely and accurately complete tasks assigned by the Superintendent using construction equipment. You will operate GPS-equipped excavators for fine grading, excavation, trenching, and site preparation.

The role requires reading site plans and grade stakes, performing daily inspections, and coordinating repairs with supervisors. You will work with foremen and the ground crew to maintain safe, efficient projects and a clean work

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators on heavy civil or site development projects.
• Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, or Leica) preferred.
• Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.
• Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and drainage practices.
• Valid driver's license (CDL may be preferred depending on the employer).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS-equipped excavators for grading and site prep.
• Read site plans, grade stakes, GPS control for elevations.
• Excavate, load, move, and place soil and rock.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs with supervisors.
• Collaborate with foremen and ground crew for safety and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project specifications.
