Job summary

Moorhead is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely run GPS-equipped excavators on heavy civil/site development projects. You will read plans, stake elevations, and perform grading and trenching to meet precise specs.

Responsibilities include equipment inspections, reporting issues, coordinating repairs with supervisors, and working with foremen and crews to keep sites safe and efficient while maintaining a clean, organized work area and adhering to OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators on heavy civil/site development projects.
• Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, or Leica).
• Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.
• Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and drainage practices.
• Valid driver's license (CDL may be preferred).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS-equipped excavators for grading, excavation, trenching, and site prep.
• Read site plans and GPS machine control to achieve precise elevations and slopes.
• Excavate, load, move, and place soil, rock, and other materials.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
• Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs with supervisors.
• Work with foremen and ground crews to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project specifications.
