Job summary

Tucker Paving, Inc. is hiring a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator in Florida. You will operate loaders, dozers, excavators, GPS-guided machinery, and other heavy equipment on active job sites.

Responsibilities include safe operation, daily equipment checks, maintaining records, reading blueprints, and collaborating with the foreman to plan work. Valid driver’s license required; OSHA 30 preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience operating heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and understand basic instructions and memos.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to maintain accurate time and material records.
• Strong safety focus and understanding of equipment safety.
• Ability to read plans/blueprints and build accordingly.
• Valid driver’s license required; OSHA 30 preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS-controlled heavy equipment where applicable.
• Follow Tucker Paving safety rules and OSHA regulations.
• Model safe work practices and use PPE correctly.
• Report safety violations to Foreman or safety team.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules and correct job-site methods.
• Correct unsafe conditions and assist with site inspections.
• Collaborate with Foreman to plan schedules, equipment, and staffing.
• Attend training classes and seminars.
• Ensure crew and public safety around the site.
• Train new crew members and promote teamwork.
• Respond appropriately to OSHA inspections or site crises.
• Maintain professional conduct to enhance company reputation.
• Operate a broad range of heavy equipment (loaders, excavators, backhoes, dozers, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment clean.
• Observe equipment operation and file daily reports to Foreman.
• Move controls and operate steering to operate equipment.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
