Job summary

Tucker Paving, Inc. is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to safely and efficiently operate excavators supporting site development and underground utilities. The role requires precision, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with foremen and crews to meet project goals.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of heavy civil experience, a valid CDL, and familiarity with excavation techniques. The position is based in Central Florida with standard hours and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating excavators in heavy civil construction.
• Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators for excavation, grading, trenching, loading, and material handling activities.
• Perform excavation work for underground utilities, site development, drainage, and earthwork operations.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project specifications to complete work accurately.
• Perform digging, trenching, backfilling, loading trucks, and moving materials as directed.
• Maintain proper grades and elevations while operating equipment.
• Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and report any equipment issues or safety concerns.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
• Work closely with Foremen, Superintendents, pipe crews, laborers, and other equipment operators.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and job site procedures.
• Maintain awareness of underground utilities and job site hazards.
• Assist with general labor duties when needed to support project completion.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

This position requires the ability to operate equipment with precision while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards. • Must be dependable, safety‑focused, and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Typical working hours are 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (40–50 hours per week), with occasional overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
