Job summary

Brethren Care Village in Ashland, OH is seeking a Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) for part-time roles across day and evening/weekend shifts to support our mission-driven team.

You will maintain nursing standards, supervise assistants, document medications, assess residents, and communicate with families and staff. Onsite presence is required. The organization offers growth, tuition reimbursement, PTO, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current and valid CPR certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Strong leadership skills and/or previous experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains nursing standards and implements facility policies and procedures.
• Attends team care conferences as needed.
• Provides oral instructions to nursing assistants.
• Assesses residents and records information in records.
• Documents medication administration per policies.
• Functions as team leader and supervisor.
• Facilitates communication with residents, families, and staff.
• Ensures call lights are answered.
• Receives and records oral orders from physicians.
• Reports health status changes to physician or responsible party.
• Performs daily tasks with infection control and standard precautions.

GPN: Graduate Practical Nurse

Part Time | Days (6am - 6pm) | Saturday and Sunday Only!

Part Time | Evening (6pm - 10pm) | Saturday and Sunday Only!

Pay: $24/hr to $25.80/hr (Based on experience) PLUS shift differentials: +$1.75/hr evenings, +$1.50/hr nights, +$1/hr weekends

What You'll Do as a GPN: Graduate Practical Nurse:

• Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the facilities nursing department including skin grids and treatments, preventative skin plans, preventative fall plans, incident reports and admission paperwork.
• Attends team care conferences as needed.
• Provides oral instructions to nursing assistants.
• Assesses residents and records all pertinent information in resident's records.
• Document administration of medications according to facility policies and procedures.
• Functions as team leader and supervisor.
• Supplies and interprets information, supports decisions, and facilitates communications with residents and their families, and nursing assistants and support staff.
• Assures that resident's call lights are answered.
• Receives and records oral telephone medication and treatment orders from physicians/physician's offices.
• Reports changes in resident's health status to physician, resident, and/or responsible party.
• Performs daily tasks in accordance with infection control and standard precaution policies and procedures.
• Follows policies and procedures related to body mechanics and lift systems.
• Assures residents individual care plans are being followed by reviewing nursing assistant assignment sheets.
• Assures nursing assistant are completing their required documentation before shift ending including service check off lists, Restorative Care and Intake and Output records.
• Assures rounds are being done with shift to shift change to prevent conflict

Requirements for a GPN: Graduate Practical Nurse?
