The Opportunity…

GRID Alternatives is looking for a Government Proposal Manager who will join a fast-paced, values-based organization to help secure millions of dollars of revenue from government sources. You’ll report to the Director of Government Strategy and Development, who manages GRID’s national government partnership portfolios and work with a team of 25 Headquarters Philanthropy staff to help meet ambitious fundraising goals in support of GRID Alternatives’ mission.

The Government Proposal Manager will support the development and execution of a fundraising strategy for prospective government funders, primarily at state and federal levels, including managing all aspects of implementing the process for developing and submitting proposals in response to government RFPs and funding notices, conducting ongoing research to identify and qualify new funding opportunities, managing contract review and negotiations in coordination with GRID program management staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain progress and momentum across various grant funding opportunities, within different departments of the organization
  • Develop and manage compliance matrices and guide internal and external proposal contributors through the process of completing assignments and key deliverables on time
  • Coordinate with program and finance staff to gather required information to produce concept notes, letters of inquiry and proposals.
  • Serve as a resource to staff in interpreting notices of funding requests and guidelines during proposal development, and provide support as needed to staff leading funded programs and projects during contractual discussions and negotiations
  • Manage all grant and contract data to ensure all contacts, funding records, prospective opportunities, paperwork and deliverables are entered into and maintained in GRID’s Salesforce CRM database


What You Need To Bring To This Role…

  • 3+ years experience successfully preparing and implementing grant and/or contract proposals to the U.S. Government at City, State and/or Federal levels and managing active contracts/grants, preferably in the energy, environmental or sustainability sectors
  • Written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals and reports
  • Highly organized with acute attention to detail
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to think strategically and to lead and work within diverse teams, with a high degree of independence
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat to fulfill technical and formatting proposal requirements
  • Experience preferred using Salesforce.com CRM or similar database systems
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all of the preferred qualifications
  • Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.


Where you will sit & the places you may go…

This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($75k- $88k annually), plus the benefits listed below.
