Job summary

The City of College Station seeks an experienced Program Auditor to conduct independent evaluations of government programs, agencies, or departments and assist with planning, organizing, and conducting audits and program evaluations.

Responsibilities include fieldwork, documenting audit evidence, reporting findings, and presenting to the Audit Committee and City Council, while adhering to professional auditing standards and updating policies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years in public accounting or internal auditing.
  • Valid Class Texas Driver’s License.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistics software.
  • CIA or CPA certification or ability to obtain within specified timeline.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations of government programs to identify risk and assess internal controls.
  • Investigate programs and contracts for efficiency, economy, and compliance.
  • Perform fieldwork, collect and document audit evidence, and interview staff.
  • Analyze results, prepare work papers, and present findings to leadership and audit committee.
  • Adhere to GAO/audit standards and assist with policy/procedure updates.
  • Examine and reconcile funds and accounts as part of audits.
  • Assist in developing annual audit work plan and prioritize risks.
