Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’sDivision of State Landsis Florida’s lead agency for environmental management and stewardship and serves as staff to theBoard of Trusteesof the Internal Improvement Trust Fund (Board of Trustees).
Within the Division of State Lands, the Bureau of Real Estate Services manages all aspects of real property transactions on behalf of the Board of Trustees, including negotiation, acquisition, disposition, exchange, donation, and closing of real property. The Bureau of Real Estate Services also administers statewide contracts for title and closing services, as well as environmental site assessments.
To support the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’smission, the Bureau of Real Estate Services regularly collaborates with other agency divisions, water management districts, and state agencies serving as land managers to negotiate and facilitate real estate transactions that advance critical conservation and operational objectives.
This position is responsible for the following:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: The principles of land management and real estate; the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to: Negotiate and reach a settlement for state land acquisitions, donations, or exchanges; collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to the acquisition of state lands; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to state land acquisitions; work independently; utilize problem solving techniques; plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; demonstrate teamwork; use a personal computer.
