Our Gateway platforms bring maritime capability to the space industry, helping commercial and government customers move missions from shore to sea. We are a growing team turning engineering into real hardware and building the operating capability around it.

Role Summary

We are looking for a strong writer who can understand what we are building, explain why it matters, and help turn customer interest into business. This role connects our engineering and operations teams with business development and marketing, translating technical information into clear proposals, customer materials, and public communications.

You will work directly with leadership to develop proposals, support customer pursuits, and tell Seagate Space’s story. We need someone who takes ownership, asks good questions, and gets the work across the finish line.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Writing and Proposal Development

  • Work with engineering and operations to explain platform capabilities, mission concepts, interfaces, and customer benefits accurately and in language suited to the audience.
  • Manage writing schedules, response outlines, submission requirements, reviews, and version control; bring complete documents forward for approval on time.
  • Maintain reusable, approved content and support the development of platform user guides and customer documentation as priorities require.
Business Development Support
  • Research customers, partners, funding opportunities, and relevant solicitations; summarize mission fit, requirements, deadlines, and next steps for leadership.

  • Keep opportunity records, customer actions, and pursuit milestones current; coordinate inputs from leadership, engineering, operations, and partners.
Marketing and Communications
  • Create and maintain website copy, social posts, company announcements, newsletters, case studies, and event materials using approved information.
  • Build a practical content calendar around customer milestones, platform development, demonstrations, and industry events; capture stories with the team.
  • Maintain consistent messaging and presentation quality across customer, and public materials; track engagement and relevant inquiries.
  • Coordinate technical and leadership review before release and handle confidential customer and company information carefully.
Qualifications
Required
  • At least five years of relevant experience in technical writing, proposal development, business communications, or a related role, with strong writing samples.
  • Ability to learn technical subjects, interview subject matter experts, and turn complex information into accurate, readable content.
  • Strong editing, research, organization, and document production skills; able to manage several deadlines and follow through with limited direction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, plus familiarity with customer relationship management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, maritime, engineering, or another industry where technical accuracy matters.
  • Experience supporting government proposals, RFI and RFP responses, or SBIR and STTR submissions.
  • Experience with customer research, opportunity tracking, basic graphic design, website updates, or event communications.
  • Experience in a startup or small team where priorities move quickly and everyone contributes.
