Job summary

InnoForge in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Senior Proposal Specialist to lead technical proposal development for U.S. government opportunities. You will translate complex engineering concepts into clear, compelling content and collaborate with engineering, business development, and leadership to win contracts.

You'll own RFIs, RFPs, SBIRs, BAAs, OTAs, and other federal pathways, ensure compliance, and help build a scalable proposal capability as the company grows.

Qualifications

• 3-6+ years of technical proposal writing experience in defense, space, or intelligence programs.
• Experience writing for U.S. government customers (DoD, Space Force, NASA, IC).
• Familiarity with SBIR/STTR, OTAs, BAAs, and federal solicitations.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into accurate, high-quality content.

We're partnered with an emerging space and defense technology company developing advanced solutions for government and commercial customers. The business operates in a highly technical, mission-driven environment, with a focus on innovation, next-generation capabilities, and supporting critical national security programs.

As the company continues to grow, they're looking to bring in an experienced Senior Proposal Specialist to support business development efforts and help secure new government contracts.

This is a hands-on position within a small, collaborative team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of technical proposal development and work closely with senior leadership, engineering, and business development.

Rather than simply managing the proposal process, you'll be responsible for understanding complex technologies and translating technical information into clear, persuasive, and compliant submissions.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and write technical proposals, white papers, and supporting documentation for U.S. government opportunities.
• Support submissions across RFIs, RFPs, SBIRs, BAAs, OTAs, and other federal acquisition pathways.
• Work directly with engineers and technical leadership to understand products, capabilities, and proposed solutions.
• Translate complex engineering concepts into compelling technical narratives aligned with customer requirements.
• Review solicitation requirements, identify compliance needs, and ensure submissions address evaluation criteria.
• Manage proposal deliverables, timelines, and coordination across internal stakeholders.
• Help establish and improve proposal processes, content libraries, and best practices as the business grows.

What We're Looking For

• 3-6+ years of technical proposal writing experience, supporting U.S. defense, space, or intelligence programs.
• Experience writing technical content for U.S. government customers, such as the DoD, U.S. Space Force, NASA, or Intelligence Community.
• Familiarity with government contracting and different acquisition mechanisms, including SBIR/STTR, OTAs, BAAs, or traditional federal solicitations.
• Ability to understand complex technical concepts, engage confidently with engineers, and produce accurate, high-quality technical content.
• Experience independently managing proposal development, ideally within a smaller organization or fast-growing business.
• Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Active security clearance advantageous, although candidates eligible to obtain one will also be considered.
