Job summary

The Accountant position at Cumberland County is responsible for managing and analyzing the County budget to support sound financial decisions for the present and future. The role performs monthly and year-end accounting, collects and analyzes financial data, and oversees cash resources to meet payroll and operating needs.

Featuring a Monday–Friday schedule, the role reports to the Financial Manager 1 and requires a Bachelor’s in accounting and 2+ years of related government experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 credits in accounting.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in budget and accounting (government preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design and budget development from database design through budget approval.
• Monitor performance measures and benchmarking processes of the County.
• Manage accounting functions for multiple funds.
• Manage daily cash resources to maximize interest revenue and ensure investment safety.
• Manage county credit cards.
• Update the Finance website with new documents and information.
• Attend trainings and seminars as required.
• Perform other related duties as required.
