Job summary

Hamilton County Schools is seeking a professional accountant to independently perform accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting functions in support of district operations. You will review financial data, post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with GAAP and governmental standards.

The role requires strong analytical skills, collaboration with HR, payroll, and budget teams to improve processes and internal controls, and the ability to support audit activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 4 years of accounting experience, including governmental accounting and accrual accounting.
  • Two years of governmental accounting or related field experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, analyze, and post journal entries and financial transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts with minimal supervision.
  • Review and evaluate financial data for proper classification, coding, and reporting.
  • Support accounts payable/receivable and cash management processes.
  • Monitor budgets and expenditures; identify variances; recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in budget preparation, projections, and amendments.
  • Prepare routine and non-routine financial reports and statements.
  • Conduct basic to intermediate financial analysis and trend reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
