Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Software Engineer - GovCloud for the Public Cloud engineering team. You will design, develop, and optimize distributed back-end services powering millions of users, with a focus on availability, security, and AI-enabled workflows.

You will work with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and modern tooling while balancing live-site reliability, feature delivery, and debt management. A related technical degree and 3+ years of backend experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required.
• 3+ years backend software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of programming in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with distributed database systems and relational databases like Postgres a plus.
• Demonstrated AI-first approach to engineering and experience with AI tools.
• Advanced prompt engineering and ability to write precise prompts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools and validation platforms on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Design, develop, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Build production-grade software using modern engineering practices with AI-centered workflows.
• Write and maintain microservices on Kubernetes, Docker, and Mesos.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Contribute to AI-enabled system context and design standards.
• Critically evaluate code for correctness, security, and performance.
• Join on-call rotation to keep services highly available.
