Job summary

The Moorings Yacht & Country Club in Vero Beach, FL seeks a Golf Course Ranger/Starter to manage pace of play, enforce rules, and assist players at the tee. Previous golf knowledge is preferred but not mandatory. Flexible days and hours with the ability to work in a club environment; this is an entry-level, hourly, non-exempt

Responsibilities

• Check with Golf Shop for any special instructions or requests.
• Ensure players tee off at their assigned tee times.
• Observe pace of play and request slower groups to speed up when appropriate.
• Inform shop services about rate of play as needed.
• Provide players with score cards, pencils, rules, and amenities.
• Restrict entry to the course beyond starting tee.
• Promote course care: divot repair sand, ball marks, rake traps.
• Escort unauthorized people from the golf course.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations.
• Promote facility programs and events to Members.
• Maintain clean appearance of the starter’s booth.
• Advise players and cart attendants about course conditions.
• Assist cart room attendants when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Description

The position of Golf Course Ranger/Starter is responsible for overseeing the smooth and timely pace of play of a golf course. The Ranger patrols the course and driving range, ensuring golfers follow the course’s rules and regulations, monitors golfers during play to maintain golf course rules and play etiquette while also ensuring the proper timeline of tee-offs.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

1. 1. Check with Golf Shop for any special instructions or requests.
2. 2. Ensure players tee off at their assigned tee times.
3. 3. Observe pace of play on the golf course, requesting slower playing groups to speed up pace, if appropriate.
4. 4. Inform professional shop services about the rate of course play for the day as needed and appropriate.
5. 5. Supply players with score cards, pencils, rules of play and other amenities as directed.
6. 6. Prevents players from entering course beyond starting tee.
7. 7. Assist in maintaining golf course conditions by promoting use of divot repair sand, ball marks and ensure sand traps are raked.
8. 8. Escort unauthorized people from the golf course.
9. 9. Enforce facility rules and regulations.
10. 10. Promote facility programs, events, and image to the Members at all times.
11. 11. Maintains clean and orderly appearance of stater’s booth at all times.
12. 12. Advises players and golf cart attendants about course conditions.
13. 13. Assist golf cart room attendants when needed.
14. 14. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Golf knowledge preferred.

Experience:

Prior experience not required.

Physical Demands of Work Environment:

1. Requires mostly outdoor work with limited, occasional indoor work.
2. Flexible days/hours; weekends/holidays/evenings may be required.
3. While performing duties of the job, employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, and reach overhead.
4. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee is required to regularly kneel or crouch, bend, reach overhead and walk.
5. Must be able to pull and lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly.
6. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
