Job summary

Boatwright invites a motivated intern to join the 2027 USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship – Operations in Lafayette, LA. Work closely with the LGA staff to support championships, tournaments, and logistics on-site.

You’ll handle office tasks, event coordination, scoring, and participant services, gaining insight into golf administration and event management while traveling across Louisiana.

Qualifications

• Interest in golf administration or sports management preferred.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic with strong work ethic.
• Outgoing, personable, and able to engage with diverse groups of people.
• Strong written and verbal communication with excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
• Willing to work extended hours, weekends, and travel across Louisiana.
• Residence near Lafayette, LA for the internship duration.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general office duties, including CRM updates and member correspondence.
• Manage the LJGT membership roster and distribution of packages.
• Create events, pairings, starting times, and print materials in Golf Genius.
• Attend course ratings with LGA Director of Member Services.
• Perform pre-tournament tasks like course setup and scoring areas.
• Support tournament operations for LGA Championships, LJGT events, and USGA Qualifiers.
• Set up TV leaderboards and manage equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate with volunteers and assist with pace of play monitoring.
• Provide customer support via phone and email for Golf Genius and registrations.
• Collaborate on social media with the Director of Communications for event photos and updates.
• Assist with tournament breakdown and trophy presentations.
