The United States Golf Association's Museum and Library offers a paid internship for students in Library Science or Archival Studies. The Special Collections Intern will assist with processing, cataloging, digitization, metadata work, and research support within a historic golf archive based at Liberty Corner, NJ, about 20 hours per week with on-site responsibilities.

You'll gain hands-on experience in archival techniques, digital repositories, and extraction of historical materials for exhibits

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a graduate level program in Library Science.
• Basic knowledge of digital asset management systems.
• Basic knowledge of metadata, library standards and resources, and a desire to assist in preservation and access of library material.
• Ability to lift and move library materials up to 25 pounds.
• Basic knowledge of best practices in handling sensitive and historic materials.
• Passion and enthusiasm for history and the care of historic materials.
• Appreciation and interest in sports heritage and/or the game of golf.

Responsabilités

• Support archival processing including arrangement, description and cataloging materials in the Museum's collections management system, TMS Collections.
• Develop familiarity with the TMS Record Style Guide to standardize existing records.
• Digitize archival material and ensure proper metadata cataloging in TMS Collections and TMS Media Studio.
• Assist with research requests and onsite research visits.
• Assist with preparation and organization of assets for Museum exhibitions and projects.
