Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Golf Member Associate to operate the service desk, process memberships and greens fees, and assist with class registrations and merchandise sales. The role requires welcoming guests and delivering excellent customer service in a busy club environment.

The position involves indoor/outdoor golf facility supervision, light cleaning, and handling routine transactions. Flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required to support program schedules

Responsibilities

• Operate service desk and facility efficiently and safely.
• Handle basic POS for merchandise, class registration, memberships, greens fees, range balls, and events.
• Provide friendly, courteous service to all guests.
• Communicate with guests by phone and in person.
• Sell memberships and register members for classes and programs.
• Provide information on programs, memberships, events, pricing, registration, etc.
• Assist with merchandise display and inventory.
• Represent the organization with a positive attitude and passion for golf.

Position Summary

The Golf Member Associate is responsible for operation of the service desk, membership transactions, greens fees and class registration, merchandise sales, financial transactions, golfer check-in, information, communication, and indoor facility supervision. Customer service is the number one priority. Some light cleaning is also required.

Essential Functions

• Operation of an efficient, clean, and safe service desk and facility
• Basic point-of sale register functions for merchandise, class registration, memberships, greens fees, range balls, and special events
• Ensuring friendly, courteous, and efficient service to all guests
• Communicating in a friendly and informative manner with guests both on the phone and in person
• Selling memberships and registering members for classes and various programs
• Providing information on programs, memberships, events, pricing, registration, etc.
• Assisting with merchandise display and inventory
• Representing the organization through positive attitude and demonstrating a passion to help others enjoy the game of golf

Accountability

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and successful completion and maintenance of applicable position requirements, which may include background screening, driver's license review, CPS screening, drug and/or alcohol testing, or other screenings as required by the position or applicable law.

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

This position operates in indoor and outdoor golf, recreational, and community-based environments and regularly interacts with team members, leaders, members, guests, vendors, and other stakeholders. The role requires frequent walking, standing, running, bending, kneeling, climbing, stooping, sitting on the floor and returning to a standing position, and other physical activity associated with golf and member service operations. The position requires the ability to lift, pull, carry, and move up to 50 pounds and may involve prolonged periods of standing or sitting. Exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions may occur, and flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on operational and organizational needs.

Compensation

Hourly Range: $12.77 - $14.00

The hourly range provided reflects the YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ good-faith determination of the minimum and maximum starting hourly for this position.
