Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a Golf Course Worker I to perform hands-on outdoor maintenance at the Pasadena Municipal Golf Club. Duties include mowing, irrigation, landscaping, and general upkeep to keep the course in prime condition.

You will operate tractors and hand/power mowers, and assist with greens, tees, and traps. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months of related experience, and a valid Class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Mow grass on fairways and rough, maintain greens and tees.
• Operate tractor for turf preparation, tilling, and grading new turf areas.
• Irrigate turf by connecting and operating sprinkler systems.
• Digs, rakes, grades, and repairs greens, traps, and flowerbeds.
• Plant, trim, and spray trees and shrubs as needed.
• Report maintenance needs to Superintendent promptly.
• Adhere to City timekeeping and attendance policies.
• Maintain licenses, certifications, and clearances as required.

Job description

Duties: A Golf Course Worker I performs hands-on, outdoor labor to maintain and care for the Pasadena Municipal Golf Club. The role focuses on keeping the course in good condition through mowing, irrigation, landscaping, and general upkeep. Operates tractor to till, cultivate, grade new turf areas, mow rough and fairway areas at designated cut, exercising care not to injure turf or shrubs. Operates hand or power mower to cut turf on green and tee areas. Ability to drive various utility vehicles. Connects hose and sprinkler systems at designated points on course to irrigate turf. Digs and rakes ground to prepare new greens, grades and cleans traps, and repairs flowerbeds. Plants, trims, and sprays trees and shrubs. Reports maintenance needs to the Superintendent on a timely basis. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months related experience and/or training. Valid Class C driver's license with good driving record.
