Job summary

Towanda Golf Club is seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Manager to oversee the golf course and clubhouse grounds. You will hire, train, and lead the maintenance team, coordinate schedules, and manage annual budgets to ensure optimal course conditions and guest experiences.

Responsibilities include turf and landscape care, equipment maintenance, safety programs, record keeping, and compliance with applicable laws. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Budgeting and expense management experience required.
• 3–5 years turf grass management experience.
• Supervisory, coaching and staff development experience.
• Experience producing excellent playing conditions.
• Two-year degree preferred but not required.
• GCSAA member preferred but not required.
• Spray Tech certified and irrigation knowledge.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal laws affecting golf course operations.
• Strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.

• Hires, supervises and develops grounds maintenance staff in the department.
• Coordinates scheduling of department personnel.
• Communicates with Owners and Golf Professional about activities, goals and feedback.
• Prepares and manages annual budget plan for the maintenance operation.
• Maintains inventory and oversees repairs and maintenance of equipment.
• Implements and enforces a comprehensive safety program for employees.
• Supervises drainage, irrigation and other mechanical watering systems.
• Develops annual chemical and fertilizing plan.
• Ensures high-quality playing conditions for guests.
• Maintains records for maintenance (inventory, files, fuel, logs).
• Performs other duties as assigned by Owners.

Job description

Maintains all grounds including the golf course, clubhouse surrounds and other maintainable property.

Supervises all plantings, fertilizing and chemical applications, and other care of turf, plants, shrubs and trees on the golf course and clubhouse surrounds.

Hires, supervises, and develops grounds maintenance staff and other employees in the maintenance department.

Coordinates scheduling of all personnel assigned to the department.

Communicates frequently with the Owners and Golf Professional to discuss activities, goals, plans and member/guest feedback.

Prepares and manages annual budget plan for the golf course maintenance operation on an annual basis.

Maintains inventory and oversees all repairs and scheduled maintenance of all golf course maintenance equipment.

Implements and enforces comprehensive safety program for employees of the maintenance department.

Supervises maintenance and operation of drainage, irrigation, and other mechanical watering systems.

Develops chemical and fertilizing plan on an annual basis.

Ensures that the golf course is providing healthy and high-quality playing conditions for guests of the property.

Prepares and maintains all record keeping for maintenance department (i.e., inventory, files, fuel, fertilization, irrigation and chemical application logs)

Perform other duties as assigned by Owners

Experience Requirements:

Knowledge of budgeting and expense management.

3-5 years turf grass management experience

Supervisory, coaching and staff development experience required

Experience producing excellent playing conditions

A two-year degree preferred, but not required

GCSAA Member preferred, but not required

Spray Tech certified and Irrigation knowledge

Knowledge of local, federal, and state laws and regulations affecting management of golf course operations

Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business

Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Must be highly organized and efficient with a high attention to detail

About Towanda Golf Club

Nestled in the rolling hills of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Towanda Golf Course was built in 1925. The golf course is an 18-hole course that is about 6000 yards in length. It is a par 71 course and is open to the public. In 2021, the Towanda Golf Club came under new ownership. The ownership team is committed to the long-term future of Towanda Golf Club and continued course improvements.
