Job summary

Rocky Point Golf Course in Essex, Maryland is seeking a Superintendent to oversee course maintenance, manage staff, and drive improvements within the Baltimore County system. The role requires formal turfgrass education, several years of supervisory experience, and a proven ability to manage budgets, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The position is on-site with full-time engagement and the potential for leadership across capital projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Associates Degree in turfgrass management or related field from an accredited program or equivalent and minimum 40 hours/year of continuing education in topics related to golf course grounds maintenance.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in turfgrass management or in a related area. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Maryland Public Agency Pesticide Applicator’s license in at least categories III-C (Turf), other certifications, which may be required.
• GCSAA Member preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees golf course grounds maintenance and facility improvements while managing staff and budgets.
• Direct staff, training, hiring, retention and disciplinary matters; coordinate equipment maintenance and payroll.
• Manage operating budgets, seed and chemical purchases, and capital planning within authority guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with employees, golf operations staff and customers using proper written, verbal and electronic methods.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations governing turfgrass operations.
• Plan and implement capital improvement projects requested by leadership and board.
