Job description

TPC Scottsdale, host of the WM Phoenix Open, is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent to oversee operations of our 18‑hole championship course. Candidates will work under the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations and General Manager, ensuring the highest standards of playability, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain all golf course and clubhouse grounds plans.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor manpower, equipment, and supplies, ensuring accountability for costs and performance.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets; coordinate budgetary reviews with senior management.
  • Maintain accurate accounting for all maintenance activities, including labor distributions, purchases, and fixed assets.
  • Maintain comprehensive records: man‑hour usage, equipment maintenance, tool and supply inventory, daily logs, fertilizer/fungicide/herbicide usage, fuel and water usage, and pesticide‑related documentation required by government authorities.
  • Enforce safety regulations, policies, and procedures; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist in developing and implementing environmental programs aligned with the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.
  • Recruit, orient, train, motivate, and retain staff; manage personnel matters such as salaries, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Coordinate with local tournament personnel, PGA TOUR Competition Staff, and other leaders to prepare for PGA TOUR events.
  • Maintain control of employee uniforms and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Perform special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Secondary education with a two‑ or four‑year degree in turf management or a related field, or equivalent trades training and work experience.
  • Minimum five to six years of progressive golf course maintenance experience, including at least three years as Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or completion of a Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Training Program.
  • Supervisor experience required; strong leadership and personnel‑management skills.
  • Member in good standing with the GCSAA.
  • Thorough knowledge of golf course operations, turf management practices, and business administration in a golf‑related environment.
Physical Demands and Working Environment

Work is predominantly outdoors in varied weather conditions. The role requires regular standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting or moving up to 50pounds. Employees must meet close, depth, and color vision requirements and comply with all safety and health regulations.

Travel

Travel not required.

Schedule and Supervisory Responsibility

Shifts will be scheduled as needed to align with business demands. The Superintendent will manage a team of employees, responsible for their performance, hiring, and day‑to‑day supervision.
