QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate or Bachelor degree in turf management or related field, or trades training with work‑related experience in turf management.
• Knowledge of general business administration practices as applied to golf course operations, gained through one to two years of progressively responsible maintenance experience.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Lead and direct the work of others including the Golf Course Maintenance Crew, assisting the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent I.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and review performance for crew members.
• Manage the daily departmental workload and ensure overall organization and cleanliness of the course, equipment, and maintenance facility.
• Assume duties of the Irrigation Foreman or Application Foreman as required.
• Direct special repairs or modification projects.
• Monitor and control departmental expenses to stay within budget constraints.
• Promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist in training employees on safety and internal procedures.
• Communicate regularly via a 2‑way radio system.
• Wear personal protective clothing or equipment to comply with established safety operating standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This role operates in a professional office environment but also requires regular standing, walking, kneeling, and handling of equipment. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds with awkward weights. Clear vision and the ability to adjust focus are essential. Work is exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

WORK SCHEDULE & SHIFTS

Shifts are scheduled as necessary based on business levels.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position manages employees and is responsible for performance management and the hiring of employees within the department.
