Job summary

The Joliet Park District is hiring a Golf Course Mechanic in Joliet, IL to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for all golf course assets. You will diagnose and repair equipment, track parts and labor, and place orders for parts and supplies to keep the fleet ready for the season.

Under the Director of Horticulture and Golf Grounds, you will monitor safety standards, maintain records, assist with equipment purchases, and ensure quality of cut and overall course condition.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training or certification in equipment repair and maintenance required.
• Welding experience required.
• CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for golf course assets.
• Diagnose and repair equipment; keep records of parts and labor.
• Place orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service.
• Monitor, inspect, and report equipment maintenance per manufacturer guidelines.
• Monitor quality-of-cut, after-cut appearance, height-of-cut, and bench settings.
• Maintain equipment of all types and sizes including gas, diesel, 2-cycle engines, hydraulic and electric systems.
• Winter season maintenance, repairs, services, and grinding to prep fleet.
• Maintain records for equipment and parts inventory, costs of repairs, and maintenance.
• Assist with equipment purchases to meet agronomics and facility needs.
• Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and regulations.
