Job summary

GolfHires is seeking a hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead daily maintenance and staff at our Ohio course. You will supervise crews, plan maintenance programs, and ensure top playing conditions year-round.

The role requires budgeting, irrigation oversight, and knowledge of greens, tees, fairways, and drainage, with preferred agronomy/turf credentials and Ohio licensure requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Agronomy or related field; two-year turf management certificate preferred.
• Hands-on supervision with daily maintenance and staff training; ability to manage budgets and schedules.
• Knowledge of golf course greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and drainage systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily golf course maintenance programs including fertilization, irrigation, turf management, and chemical applications.
• Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff.
• Monitor irrigation performance and system operations to ensure quality playing conditions.
• Prepare annual operating budgets with club management; manage capital improvements and equipment replacement.
• Maintain records of chemical applications and compliance with regulations.

Job description

The Golf Course Superintendent assumes responsibilty for mananging and maintaining the Golf Course and Common Grounds.

• Must be a self- motivated problem solver and team leader. The superintendent is expected to be a "hands on" individual actively involved with the daily maintenance of the course.
• Plan and execute daily golf course maintenance programs including, fertilization, irrigation, turf management, chemical applications, etc.
• Hire, supervise, train, and evaluates maintenance staff employees.
• Monitor irrigation system performance, maintenance, and operation to provide quality playing conditions. Experience with Toro"Links" Irrigation System is perferred.
• Prepare annual operating budget for the maintenance department, capital improvements, and equipment replacement in conjuction with Club Management.
• Specific knowledge of golf course construction techniques and renovation practices pertaining to but no limited to greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and drainage.
• Provide maintenance, repair, recommendation and oversight of the operation and maintenance of the Clovernook C.C. property icluding all equipment and buildings.
• Continually evaluates how management standards are being achieved and to make recommendations and/or modifications to improve management programs.
• Approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with approved budgets without sacrificing the condition of the golf course. Education:
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Agronomy or related field perferred. Two year Certificate in Turf Management. Experience:
• A minimum of 3-5 years as a golf course superintendent and/or first assistant superintendent preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the rules of golf and strategies of the game of golf.
• Prefer experience in the maintenance of bentgrass/annual bluegrass greens, tees, and fairways in the midwest.
• Requires current Ohio Chemical Applicator License. If applicant selected does not have this license they will be required to obtain one within three months being hired. Superintendent is responsible to maintain accurate records and inventory of all chemical applications.
• Requires knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations including, but not limited to employment, OSHA regulations, local building codes, and EPA standards.
