Job summary

Royal Manchester Golf Links in Mount Wolf, PA, seeks a full-time, hourly 2nd Assistant Superintendent to join our golf course maintenance team. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance, budgeting with the Superintendent, supervising staff, and directing work on greens, tees, fairways, and bunkers.

The role requires an Associates degree in agronomy/horticulture/plant/soil science or equivalent experience, with 3–4 years in related fields.

Qualifications

• Experience in agronomy/horticulture/plant/soil science preferred.
• Three to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent.
• Degree preference in agronomy/horticulture/plant/soil science.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the maintenance and construction of the 18 hole golf course and ensures turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.
• Works with the Superintendent to ensure annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
• Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties.
• Assists in planning, organizing and directing maintenance and construction of greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkers.
• Ensures all grounds and course maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
• Supervises planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course.
• Records all maintenance on course.
• Assists superintendent in preparing annual budget for department; takes corrective action as necessary to meet budget goals.
• Maintains course in proper playing condition.
• Ensures all associates obtain proper licenses to perform job tasks safely and within regulations.
• Communicates with other departments about facilities, plans and events.
• Assists with snow removal.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
