Job summary

Renwood Golf Course, part of the Round Lake Area Park District, is seeking a full-time golf course laborer to maintain the grounds and facilities year-round, outdoors in all weather. Duties include mowing, course setup, lifting heavy items, and minor repairs around the pro-shop and cart barn.

Responsibilities involve operating a range of tools and equipment, assisting with irrigation, and ensuring safety and courtesy in interactions with staff and the public.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Driver’s License is required.
• Must be able to operate equipment and tools safely and proficiently.
• Ability to work in a team or independently.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Must pass criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
• Knowledge of maintenance and general upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain golf course grounds with sit-on reel/rotary mowers.
• Handle course setup: cut cups, set tee markers, remove trash.
• Lift and move equipment and materials over 50 pounds.
• Dig, rake, shovel soil, mulch, and leaves.
• Operate power tools such as trimmers, pruners, chainsaws, blowers, and rototillers.
• Operate manual geared utility vehicles and tractors.
• Use a lift to prune trees and perform repairs.
• Support irrigation and plumbing repairs, indoors and outdoors.
• Follow park district rules and safety procedures.
• Communicate with staff and the public respectfully.
• Snow removal.
• Direct seasonal employees when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Renwood Golf Course, part of the Round Lake Area Park District has a full-time opportunity for golf course laborer. This is a full-time, year-round position that includes a variety of tasks. Must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather. In the summer, we start at 5:30 am.

Weekends and holidays may be required.

The golf course laborer is responsible for maintenance and repair on the golf course grounds including the pro-shop, maintenance shop and cart barn.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• 
  Using various mowing equipment including sit-on reel/rotary mowers to maintain the golf course grounds.
• 
  Course set-up operations including; cutting cups, setting tee markers and trash removal.
• 
  Lifting equipment, landscape and building materials more than 50 pounds.
• 
  Digging/raking and shoveling soil, mulch, and leaves.
• 
  Using power equipment such as line trimmers, pole pruners, chainsaws, blowers, rototillers, and carpentry tools.
• 
  Operate manual geared utility vehicles and tractors.
• 
  Use a lift to prune trees and for facility repair.
• 
  Use trucks and woodchipper for tree clean-up operations.
• 
  Painting golf course equipment and buildings.
• 
  Work on irrigation and plumbing repairs, above and below ground.
• 
  Read and follow all park district rules, policies, and safety procedures.
• 
  Communicating with other employees as well as the general public in a respectful and courteous manner.
• 
  Snow removal
• 
  Able to direct seasonal employees, in a safe manner when necessary.
• 
  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
