Job summary

Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club in Leesburg, VA, seeks an Assistant Superintendent to lead daily course maintenance and staff, while assisting in greens, tees, fairways, and club property planning. You will schedule work, supervise equipment use, and instruct operators in mowing and equipment care.

You will perform pesticide/fertilizer applications, maintain irrigation and drainage systems, and support personnel safety and OSHA compliance. A Turfgrass Management credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience working on a golf course with increasing levels of experience.
• Previous experience with chemical applications and irrigation maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is a bonus.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Turfgrass Management Certificate or degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises course maintenance staff; conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, makes decisions for hiring/firing/promoting/demoting/training of staff, as needed.
• Assists in the planning and maintenance of greens, tees, fairway, and all other club property
• Schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of all equipment.
• Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
• Performs pesticide and fertilizer applications and keep records of all applications.
• Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and the maintenance of the irrigation and drainage systems.
• Assists in the personnel management, employee safety, personnel discipline and may modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
• Conducts daily facility security checks ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys.
• Ensures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Maintains required OSHA records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products.
• Conducts all work in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, guidelines, personal protection equipment etc.
