Job summary

Columbia Hospitality is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent for Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, WA. You will work under the Golf Course Superintendent to manage the golf course, clubhouse grounds, and maintenance equipment, while guiding a team of crew members and coordinating with the golf shop.

The role involves planning maintenance, applying pesticides and fertilizers, and ensuring safety and quality of the course.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or Plant Science preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.

Golf Course Assistant Superintendent | Gold Mountain Golf Club

Gold Mountain Golf Club is looking for an Assistant Superintendent (Cascade Course). The selected candidate will be directly involved in all aspects of the masterplan remodel which includes bunkering, rerouting, tee complexes, greens and irrigation system. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with and under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent to manage and maintain the golf course, clubhouse grounds, open spaces and maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities
  • The Assistant Superintendent will be involved in the daily and long-term planning and direction of the golf course maintenance operation.
  • Maintains an open dialogue with the golf course superintendent regarding all issues golf course and employee related to help execute the vision of the superintendent.
  • Maintains all grounds and course maintenance according to the club's turf management program under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Trains and supervises associated full‑time and seasonal crew members.
  • Often responsible for pesticide and fertilizer applications after consultation with superintendent.
  • Maintains accurate pesticide application records.
  • Maintains course in proper playing condition, as recommended by superintendent.
  • Inspects course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements.
  • Helps to ensure that entire golf maintenance facility is clean and organized (including irrigation parts room, chemical storage area, and mechanics area).
  • Often oversees repairs of irrigation system (breaks, sprinklers issues, troubleshooting).
  • Works closely with the Superintendent to implement the property’s safety program.
  • Communicates as necessary with the golf shop relating to on‑course activities.
  • Works with Superintendent to ensure proper landscaping for property outside of golf course including the clubhouse and surrounding areas.
  • Helps determine when course should be closed due to weather conditions that may damage the course if play continues.
  • Conducts other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager or Superintendent.
  • Has a basic understanding of the rules of golf.
  • Exhibits some administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem solving and decision making. Works in a team atmosphere while executing the vision of the Superintendent.
  • Ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
  • Interest in the game of golf is preferred.
  • Positive leader.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or Plant Science is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in the environment typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
