Job summary

Sand Valley LLC in Wisconsin offers an Agronomy Internship for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in golf course maintenance, turfgrass management, irrigation, equipment care, and natural area stewardship.

Interns work with experienced leaders, engage in course preparation, and participate in projects tailored to education and readiness; April or May through October 2027 with applications reviewed as received.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a turfgrass management program or a closely related field.
• Eager to learn, contribute with a positive attitude.
• Willingness to work early mornings and weekends; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily course setup, mowing, bunker maintenance and other routine maintenance.
• Collect and track TDR moisture meter readings.
• Safely operate a variety of golf course and construction equipment.
• Learn Toro Lynx central control system and assist with overnight watering programs and irrigation audits.
• Support aquatic maintenance of lakes and ponds.
• Gain experience maintaining bentgrass, fine fescue, and ryegrass across areas.
• Perform turfgrass cultural practices including mowing, verticutting, topdressing, aerifying, and rolling.
• Participate in fertilizer and pesticide applications, calibration, and recordkeeping.
• Assist with grow-in projects including seeding greens, tees, fairways, and native areas using hydromulching techniques.
• Help maintain and restore natural areas such as sand barrens and sedge areas.
