Job summary

Greene Resources in Apex, NC is seeking a Golang Software Engineer to join a growing team. You will design, build, and maintain Go services for device orchestration and communication with embedded hardware, using a modern Go-based middleware and gRPC API layer.

You will work across multiple codebases, write tests, and participate in code reviews, with a focus on clean, modular architectures and reliable performance in Linux and Docker-based environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience writing Go in production systems.
• Practical experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers, including schema design and code generation.
• Familiarity with Google AIP standards or equivalent API design guidelines.
• Experience with device communication protocols and transport abstractions.
• Comfortable in Linux/embedded Linux environments and Docker-based build systems.
• Strong testing discipline: unit, integration, conformance tests.
• Proficient with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of concurrent and networked systems design in Go.
• Clear written communications for PRs, docs, and design notes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Go services for device orchestration and hardware transport.
• Contribute to an embedded middleware application running on the platform controller.
• Extend shared gRPC API contracts using Protocol Buffers and schema-management tools.
• Work on a protocol-bridging service connecting legacy JSON clients to a Go API.
• Follow API design conventions for gRPC services and messages.
• Write automated tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code/design reviews and evolve device abstraction patterns.
• Debug across the stack from serial transport to gRPC API, and document decisions.
