Job summary

BP is seeking a Materials Management Advisor to optimize storage and distribution of materials in the physical supply chain. The role ensures value delivery to internal customers through service-minded MM strategies and performance indicators, overseeing contracted Warehousing providers and aligning warehousing services with contracts to reduce risk.

About the Role

The Materials Management Advisor focuses on the enablement of efficient storage and forward distribution of materials through to customers in the physical supply chain.

This role ensures value delivery to internal customers by providing a service orientated interface and materials management (MM) strategies that support bp's business and deliver an effective and efficient physical supply chain.

It drives and embeds a continuous improvement culture through the framework of OMS by understanding operational business requirements and MM strategy all supported by fact-based performance management indicators. Oversees and is responsible for the services provided by contracted Warehousing Service Providers. Ensures warehousing services are stays in sync with contracts while reducing operational risk through effective delivery of plan.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead by example and ensure that all warehousing operations and activities follow all bp HSE and other regulatory requirements.supervise
• Ensure compliance with bp MM common process and all other relevant policies and procedures as they relate to warehousing.
• Ensure safe custody and security of all materials stored in warehouse and storage yard areas.
• Provide input for the annual budgetary plan and monitor warehousing cost during the year. Verify the cost invoiced by Warehousing Service Provider.
• Review demand plans to understand physical warehousing support requirements in the region and critically assess regional warehousing network to determine number, capacity and location of required storage locations that will improve efficiency and optimize cost.
• Lead/support various project initiatives that will drive Warehousing strategy and warehousing improvements in the region.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure appropriate strategies and processes for the preservation, maintenance and care of materials are implemented.
• Work with Warehousing Service Providers to optimise the utilisation of warehouse and storage yard areas for the most efficient and effective storage, handling and flow of materials.
• Act in the capacity of Supplier Management Job Rep/Contract Accountable Manager (CAM) for MM service contracts to execute supplier management activities in accordance with bp Procedures.
• Responsible for accident and incident reporting as prescribed for the MM sub-function and Region.
• Set up and monitor metrics that measure Shipping & receiving performance.
• Conduct regular site monitoring activities to verify conformance to warehousing standards.

Implementing Efficiencies in Global Processes :

• Analyze current global processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with MM community to standardise and streamline processes.
• Supervise and evaluate the impact of implemented changes to ensure continuous improvement.

Project Management :

• Lead and manage projects from initiation to completion and ensuring timely delivery
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.

Crucial Education:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or other relevant technical discipline.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of Warehousing activities and other fundamental Logistics industry operational activities.
• Understanding of the safety risks associated with Warehousing and Logistics and risk mitigation activities.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with individuals across multiple disciplines and geographies, across organisational boundaries and levels within BP and with suppliers.
• Working knowledge of systems such as SAP and software tools.

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous MM and/or Warehousing experience in multiple industries
• Degree in Supply Chain or Professional accreditation such as CPM, CIPS, APICS
