Job summary

SumUp is looking for a backend engineer to join the Transfers Gateway squad in Vilnius. You will build and operate production money-movement services, collaborating with product, QA, and other engineers to deliver reliable transfers and banking capabilities across markets.

You will work with Golang, AWS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes, focusing on observability, reliability, and scalable design while maintaining high code quality and test coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience building backend services in production-grade environments.
• Proficient in Go with ability to learn other languages as needed.
• Comfort with cloud-based systems, containerized workloads, and automated pipelines.
• Able to write tests and maintain high test coverage.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, data modeling, and API design.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production money movement backend services, contributing to delivery, observability, and maintenance.
• Own and deliver well-defined tasks and features within the team’s domain.
• Contribute to technical design and implementation following established architectural patterns.
• Improve service reliability and quality by writing tests and enhancing monitoring.
• Support operation of systems through on-call rotations and incident reviews.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and engineers to deliver end-to-end transfer and banking capabilities.
