KODA Technologies seeks a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to specialize in navigation algorithms, simulation, analysis, and testing. The role is on-site in Huntsville, AL, and requires an active DoD Secret Clearance.

You will model and simulate navigation systems, design new algorithms, and fuse data from IMUs, star trackers, cameras, and altimeters. Strong C++ and multi-sensor navigation experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of relevant GNC experience.
• 2+ years with extended Kalman filters, unscented Kalman filters, particle filters, or factor graphs.
• Experience with Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) in multi-sensor navigation.
• Proficiency in navigation software and C++.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Model, simulate, and analyze a navigation system within a broader system simulation.
• Lead design of new algorithms or transition existing ones to software for navigation.
• Apply sensor fusion algorithms: EKF, UKF, PF, and factor graphs.
• Fuse simulated and real-world sensor inputs from IMUs, star trackers, cameras, altimeters, and others.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to balance accuracy, operating environment, and cost.
• Present techniques, solutions, and results to the GNC team.

Position Overview:

KODA Technologies is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to specialize in the development, simulation, analysis, and testing of navigation algorithms to join our team working on-site in Huntsville, AL. An active Secret Clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis of a navigation system as part of a broader system simulation
• Lead the design of new algorithms and/or transition existing algorithms to produce software enabling accurate navigation
• Use and apply multiple sensor fusion algorithms, including extended Kalman filters, unscented Kalman filters, particle filters, and factor graphs
• Fuse simulated and real-world sensor inputs from inertial sensors, star trackers, cameras, altimeters, and other aiding sensors
• Work within a team of engineers across disciplines to design innovative navigation systems that are often constrained by conflicting factors, including accuracy, operating environment, and cost
• Present techniques, solutions, and results to the GNC team

Required Qualifications:

• Post secondary STEM degree with 5 - 10+ years of relevant experience
• 2+ years of relevant experience with extended Kalman filters, unscented Kalman filters, particle filters, or factor graphs
• Experience working with Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) in the context of a multi-sensor navigation system
• Good working knowledge of navigation architectures as part of a flight system involving closed-loop Guidance, Navigation, and Control software
• Professionally demonstrated proficiency in C++
• Ability to clearly articulate technical information, often to non-technical customers
• Strong written/verbal communication and organizational and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with alternative navigation technologies to improve navigation performance in GPS-degraded environments
• Experience deploying navigation algorithms to real-time applications
• Experience with Linux, C++, MATLAB, and/or Python
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control such as Git
• Experience conducting business in high OPSEC environment, including modeling, simulation, and software development
• Experience with specifying, testing and/or qualifying sensor hardware
• Experience in weapon system and/or sensor modeling, both for the items to be modeled, and the synthetic modeled environments used to stimulate the simulated hardware
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles, including requirements development and verification
