XWING in Santa Cruz, California, is looking for a Flight Research GNC Engineer, responsible for developing and delivering flight controls software for VTOL and CTOL aircraft. The ideal candidate will have expertise in aircraft dynamics and modern control methods, experience in C++ flight software, and skills in real-time signal processing. Compensation ranges from $140,500 to $187,400 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare and 401(k).

Qualifications

• Must meet US export control compliance requirements and qualify as a US Person.
• Proven experience in delivering high-quality C++ flight controls software.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality and well thought out flight controls software (C++) for VTOL and CTOL aircraft.
• Contribute heavily to open-loop and closed-loop stability and performance analysis tools (C++/Python).
• Formulate test plans to demonstrate robustness and performance of solutions.
• Support flight testing of various aircraft platforms in a remote ground station.
• Collaborate with the software & controls team on integrated solutions.

Skills

Expert level understanding of aircraft dynamics

Expert level knowledge of modern control methods

Experience writing real-time and safety-critical C++ flight software

Experience developing simulation and tools for linear analysis

Experience with real-time signal processing

Experience writing C++ and Python
