Job summary

Poseidon Aerospace, based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a focus on autonomous cargo aircraft, seeks a GNC Engineer to develop control systems, simulate aircraft dynamics, and implement flight control algorithms on hardware. You will collaborate with avionics and software teams to ensure reliable navigation and flight performance.

Ideal candidates own robust GNC design and simulation experience, including 6-DOF models and HITL testing, and are proficient in C++/Python/Simulink.

Qualifications

• Ownership of vehicle control systems design and simulation.
• Experience building ground-up simulation environments.
• Experience implementing flight control/navigation on aircraft.
• Familiar with verification and validation of GNC flight software, including HITL testing.
• Strong problem-solving and creative solutions for real-world control challenges.
• Fundamentals of C++/Python/Simulink for implementing control algorithms

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain simulation environment for attitude, stability, and flight performance.
• Design and implement flight control algorithms on hardware.
• Use simulation data to inform control design for flight dynamics and performance.
• Collaborate with avionics and software engineers for reliable control and navigation.
• Analyze trajectories, control profiles, and stability to maximize performance and safety.
• Contribute to high-level design decisions related to aircraft control systems.
• Support prototyping by testing control algorithms on prototype hardware.
• Tackle complex control challenges in dynamic environments.
