Job summary

Poseidon Aerospace seeks a GNC Engineer to develop and implement control systems for autonomous cargo aircraft. You will model vehicle dynamics, design flight controls, and integrate solutions into flight-ready avionics, owning software development for GNC on hardware.

You will build and refine simulation environments, analyze flight trajectories, and collaborate with avionics and software teams to ensure robust, safe control in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ownership of functional vehicle control systems development and testing.
• Experience building simulation environments from scratch and applying best practices.
• Experience implementing flight control and/or navigation algorithms on high-performance vehicles.
• Familiarity with GNC verification/validation, 6-DOF sims, HITL testing.
• Strong problem-solving and creative solution development for real-world control challenges.
• Fundamentals of C++, Python, and Simulink for control algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the simulation environment for aircraft attitude, stability, and flight performance analysis.
• Design and implement flight control algorithms on hardware, owning GNC software development.
• Use simulation data to optimize control system design for flight dynamics and performance.
• Collaborate with avionics and software engineers to ensure reliable control and navigation solutions.
• Analyze flight trajectories and stability to maximize performance and safety.
• Contribute to high-level design decisions for control systems and flight performance.
• Support prototyping by testing control algorithms on prototype hardware.
• Tackle complex GNC challenges in dynamic environments.
