Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States (Florida) seeks an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control engineer to advance spacecraft guidance and flight control algorithms for lunar missions. You will develop and validate RPOD maneuvers, run trade studies, and collaborate with subsystems to ensure design closure and mission success.

The role emphasizes Rust, C/C++, and Python in 6-DOF simulations, performance trades, and test in SIL/HIL environments.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Eng or Physics with 12+ years exp or MS with 10+ years exp.
• Deep knowledge of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, attitude kinematics and dynamics.
• Subject matter expert in spacecraft guidance, maneuver planning and optimization.
• GN&C algorithm development for flight and attitude control using classical/modern methods.
• Familiarity with requirements, interfaces, trades, and analyses for GN&C apps.
• Hands-on development with C/C++ and collaboration tools (Gitlab/Confluence/JIRA).

Responsibilities

• Derive guidance designs from mission trajectory designs.
• Coordinate performance between GN&C and mission planning.
• Develop and sustain guidance algorithms for orbital maneuvers in Earth/cis-lunar orbits.
• Develop and sustain flight control algorithms for complex missions.
• Perform trade studies for maneuver targeting and RPOD sequences.
• Collaborate with subsystems to ensure system-level design closure.
• Develop and test software for flight systems and simulations.
• Integrate and test software in SIL and HIL environments.
• Implement controls and models in a 6-DOF simulator using Rust, C/C++, Python.
