Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior GN&C leader for the Mk1 vehicle, reporting to the vehicle program director. You will manage a GN&C team, supervise performance, and deliver flight hardware and GNC software. The role requires technical leadership, mentorship, and a focus on safety and reliability.

You will drive subsystem design decisions, mitigate risks, and coordinate with other subsystems to meet vehicle performance. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• M.S. degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering with at least 10 years of design experience.
• Advanced knowledge in the development of spacecraft GN&C systems.
• Experience in full development lifecycle of GN&C subsystem on at least one aerospace program.
• Experience in GN&C algorithms and flight software development and testing.
• Experience with navigation sensors and control actuators.
• Experience with rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking missions.
• Experience in staffing plans, labor and cost estimates, and schedules.
• Experience in personnel management and performance management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and capable of guiding complex technical work.

Responsibilities

• Hire staff that continually raises the bar of performance.
• Coach and mentoring staff in their technical growth and communication development.
• Make technical, programmatic, and personnel decisions quickly using quantitative metrics.
• Be resourceful in execution and finding ways to automate or streamline work scope.
• Develop and manage subsystem-level budgets and schedule while taking calculated risks.
• Actively integrating with all other subsystems to create efficient solutions.
• Establish subsystem priorities as flowed down from company objectives.
• Review and impact engineering changes, variances, and action items.
• Develop strategic plans leveraging capabilities across Blue Origin vehicles.
• Author reports and clearly describe technical problems and solutions to leadership.
