Amentum is seeking a GN&C Engineer to join our team for NASA programs in Houston, TX. You will develop, test, and validate GN&C flight software and algorithms using C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and Autocode in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.

The role emphasizes safety-critical software development, verification, and system-level integration with a multidisciplinary team, supporting deep space exploration initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Significant knowledge of GN&C.
• Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and Python.

We have an exciting opportunity for a GN&C Engineer to join the team with ERC, a teammate company!

The GN&C Engineer will:

• Develop and evaluate safety-critical flight software
• Develop, integrate, and test GN&C algorithms
• Utilize MATLAB/Simulink/Autocode skills to update GN&C Flight Software
• Utilize Python & C/C++ skills to analyze and test GN&C Flight Software
• Validate and Verify GN&C algorithms and requirements
• Provide recommendations for improvements of flight software, its processes and procedures
• Perform deep-dive analyses of flight and simulation software
• Perform other duties as required

Requisition Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.
• Significant knowledge of GN&C
• Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations
• Proficiency with C/C++ and Python
• Familiarity with validation and verification of GN&C algorithms and requirements
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees

Requisition Preferences

• Master’s degree in engineering and 3 years or more of experience in the field or in a related area; or a PhD. in engineering or in a related field
• Significant experience with C, C++, and Python
• Significant experience with MATLAB including Simulink, Stateflow, and Autocode
• Safety and flight-critical embedded software development
• Experience with source code control and continuous integration
• Agile software development
• Experience in the following flight software specialty areas:
  • GN&C software development
  • Software process and procedure development
  • Software Integration and Build Management
• Experience with Kalman filters, Neural Networks, UDU factorization and/or advanced smoothers
• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning
• Experience with TRICK/JEOD simulation architecture

Work Environment
