Job summary

Prime Medicine is seeking a Laboratory Operations Specialist to keep laboratory instruments in working order and inspection-ready. The role includes coordinating external vendors, managing calibration and maintenance, and owning Qualer and Elemental Machines systems.

The position reports to the Laboratory Operations Lead and is based in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment, with responsibilities across equipment records, maintenance logs, and inspection readiness.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a life science or technical field, or equivalent hands‑on laboratory experience.
• Experience maintaining equipment in a GMP‑regulated laboratory.
• Working knowledge of calibration and asset management systems such as Qualer.
• Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple vendors and schedules at once.

Responsibilities

• Own the master service calendar for all laboratory instruments and equipment. Schedule every qualification, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair visit with outside vendors.
• Carry out equipment maintenance and calibration, direct or via vendor technician. Ensure records satisfy SOPs and escalate deviations.
• Serve as the business owner of Qualer as the system of record for equipment and calibration. Maintain records and logs for inspection.
• Track calibration and maintenance status of every instrument; flag overdue activities and review trends.
• Oversee Elemental Machines monitoring for temperature storage units and investigate alerts as required.
• Maintain vendor service contacts, scopes of work, and performance records for calibration vendors.
