Job summary

Avantor Spring House, PA is seeking a detail-oriented Lab/Material Handler to support Onsite Supervisor and Lab Production Services. You will perform mission-based lab work, manage inventory, and ensure GMP-compliant operations in a Monday–Friday day shift.

The role requires a HS diploma, a life sciences degree preferred, and 2+ years in GMP environments. Proficiency with SAP and strong communication are essential for daily customer interactions and shipments.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Order Fulfillment: Process customer requests for materials and services.
  • SAP Utilization: Use SAP to request items from the Malvern, PA warehouse.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee warehouse inventory and shipments; process kit orders.
  • Customer Service: Provide daily support and update customers on inventory and order status.
  • Purchasing Tasks: handle quotes, backorders, and pricing discrepancies.
  • GMP Compliance: Perform sanitization procedures per GMP standards and SOPs.
  • Sample Handling: Transport samples in proper containers.
  • Inventory Inspection: Check for expired materials and dispose as needed.
  • Package Delivery: Track deliveries and ensure timely receipt.
  • Safety Protocols: Follow PPE and cleanroom safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Monday - Friday 7 AM- 3:30 PM

Hourly Rate

$23.-$24.

What we’re looking for
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
Experience
  • 2+ years' experience in material handling/inventory replenishment
  • 2+ years' Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of GMP regulations and guidelines
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in using various software systems is required.
  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred

Success in this position requires a strong work ethic, experience or interest in working within a GMP-regulated environment, and a technical mindset with a desire to advance within the industry. The individual will be required to wear appropriate PPE and gowning while working in a cleanroom setting.

Candidates must be comfortable following detailed laboratory procedures, moving with precision, and consistently maintaining cleanroom and laboratory standards.

  • Order Fulfillment: Process customer requests for materials and services, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • SAP Utilization: Use SAP to request items from the Malvern, PA warehouse.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee warehouse inventory, manage shipment requests (receiving and shipping samples), and process kit orders according to customer specifications.
  • Customer Service: Provide daily support to customers, ensuring clear communication about inventory levels, order statuses, and any issues.
  • Customer Meetings: Participate in customer meetings to discuss operational requirements, provide updates, and address client needs.
  • Purchasing Tasks: Handle purchasing-related activities, including backorder reporting, order expediting, coordinating direct factory shipments, managing third-party support, obtaining quotes, maintaining document control, updating records, and resolving invoice or pricing discrepancies.
  • GMP Compliance: Perform sanitization procedures in line with GMP standards, SOPs, and relevant procedures.
  • Sample Handling: Ensure proper handling of samples by transporting them in closed containers, such as small coolers with lids.
  • Chemical Storage: Store chemicals according to safety guidelines, ensuring proper segregation as required.
  • Inventory Inspection: Regularly inspect inventory for expired or soon-to-expire materials, ensuring proper removal and disposal.
  • Package Delivery: Deliver packages, track deliveries, and follow up on package status to ensure timely and accurate receipt.
  • Safety Protocols: Perform lifting tasks as required, strictly following safety protocols when handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
