Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Detroit is seeking a skilled welder to perform MIG/GMAW welding per customer drawings and specs, set fixtures, dial in amps, volts, and produce clean beads. Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Successful completion of an internal welding test.
• At least one year of hands-on MIG/GMAW welding experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• All phases of weld preparation, production welding, and post-weld finishing to meet customer drawings and specs
• MIG and GMAW techniques, including proper wire/filler selection for steel, aluminum, and select exotic materials
• Interpretation of mechanical blueprints and weld symbols
• Fixturing and parameter setup (amps, volts, etc.)
• Operation of cutting and heating torch
• Use of conventional and precision measuring instruments
• Process inspection, certification, and documentation
• Welding equipment upkeep and routine maintenance
• Finish grinding with manual and power tools
• Adherence to safety and housekeeping standards
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

A day in this role

Start your shift by reviewing customer drawings and specifications. You set fixtures, dial in amps and volts, and run clean, consistent beads using MIG (GMAW). Between passes, you verify dimensions with conventional and precision measuring instruments, make adjustments, and keep detailed process inspection and certification records. Heat and cutting torches are part of your toolkit, as are grinders for final finishing. You keep your station organized, your equipment maintained, and you always work with safety and housekeeping top of mind. Other responsibilities arise, and you handle those as assigned by your supervisor.
